Unless of course you are English it seems now? I shall say no more, but I think we move more and more to being viewed as socially regressive and backward state to most of the civilised world. Perhaps though we are just reverting to type?

A lot has happened.
This week I don’t have any rehearsals. My sister will try and visit from Wednesday if she is well enough. I will be carrying on with music doings today. Might get some new plants for the balcony tomorrow. And we did so fingers crossed. Strangely now our small triangle park opposite is also being tended, with two new trees to replace the ones that died and some new plants in the circular beds. Hopefully that will jolly iy up a little 🙂
I am pleasantly surprised at how supportive my people of facebook generally seem to be at present, but I do mostly know musicians, artists and stage performers plus ageing commies and the like and even a few original womens libbers who actually would be radical feminists by belief but not trans exclusionary. It’s interesting to note that according to Good Law Project none of evidence submitted to the supreme court was actually considered in the judgement. https://goodlawproject.org/the-supreme-court-ignored-trans-voices-im-ashamed-of-what-our-law-has-become/ “we did persuade the two architects of the Gender Recognition Act that created that certificate to intervene: an academic, Stephen Whittle, and until she resigned because of what she experienced as a judge, our only “out” trans High Court judge, Victoria McCloud. Both trans, both with a gender recognition certificate. Three barristers worked on their intervention – two are now KCs – and they spent hundreds of hours and many tens of thousands of pounds working on it. We funded them. But without even giving reasons, the Supreme Court flatly refused. And they were left with not even one trans person before them. And then it got worse. They didn’t just listen to the legal arguments of those organisations. They also accepted fresh evidence from them, evidence that was never tested, evidence that would have been vigorously tested. Except the Supreme Court refused to allow anyone trans to test it.” I believe it will be resolved, but the judgement is it seems being used in a way that was never intended for political ends is a very poor show. For a change today I am not depressed, I am just saddened and disappointed as they say….
I have to say from some of the rhetoric I have heard it does seem like an attempt to ghettoise and disenfranchise Trans people. I have not seen any high profile people Ts folk being interviewed on the box either.
In other news. Not sure what to do about my lack of live music opportunities’. I don’t really see myself as a perpetual peripatetic open mic attendee. Plus there is no doubt that physically my options are limited in term of energy to drive about and stuff. With music I now find less is more say in terms of recording and producing a song. This seems to be the correct approach as born out by results in the last couple of years. Recently I hit a record in the number of daily plays of my music online. 934 plays of one song in particular stood out. Blimey! Mostly USA and wait for it….. Russia (Moscow and St Petersburg ) plus a few in Ukraine of course (Kiev mostly)
All good of course.
On Sunday at the Milton Earnest open mic I spoke to people I didn’t know and really enjoyed it.
I am somewhat socially awkward it must be said but I managed. And I played a tune or two.
So now my old car is working and is sound enough for local activities at least I have the freedom to do that. It may not get me what I want but it may help keep me sane. . I have gigs but only a handful. I do need to do more. So getting out locally will be a priority to try and meet people.
So I ask this question. In reality do people ‘See’ transgender/Ts people day to day or is their perception based on drag queens, pensioner trannies on a jolly at the seaside or purple haired non-binary people with multiple piercings and nose rings and so forth…
Re the Supreme Court Ruling: I suspect that as it will take a very long time to sort out proper proportionate legislate guidelines and advice and as several MPs have already taken a view on it, it may get pushed back as other matters will be deemed to be far more pressing and this may well be an advantage in maintaining the status quo to an extent in perhaps the same way that you generally don’t get a fine on a motorway at less than 82 mph even if caught on camera. A couple of friends have fallen of my FB list since I posted pro-trans stuff. I expect I will lose a few more.
I hate the fact on some levels there is still ‘Passing privilege’ but scaring the horses and upsetting the good citizens unduly I admit doesn’t work in helping to promote inclusion. If protest really did work all that bombing Palestinians in their homes and hospitals would have stopped by now.
Here is a new tune:
