The Ups and Downs and Happy and Sad Days

A brief flash of nostalgia hit me today again and slightly floored me. I supposed though it would be a sad life if memories did not have the power to move us like this.

“A madeleine de Proust is an expression used to describe smells, tastes, sounds or any sensations reminding you of your childhood or simply bringing back emotional memories from a long time ago. You may for example hear someone say: Le parfum de la lavande, c’est ma madeleine de Proust.”

As these things are prone to do with too much introspection when it sinks its claws in you. A couple of upcoming events fill me with mild trepidation I do confess to though. I am from a worrier not a warrior clan. I wait for the next bump in the road or trip hazard It can kill spontaneity some what. That’s just the way it is. Its been a gloomy early autumn Sunday and I am feeling it. I have been working on a new tune I am recording and also practicing stuff for a gig next weekend, but I cant say its been the most productive of days though really. Chatting on messenger, and wasting time. But where would we be without friends? Wealthier perhaps. Only joking and yet….

My car returned from its MOT and service intact as far as I can tell, hopefully it will endure if treated with respect. There are no certainty’s it seems though there are probability’s.
So only a brief report today. Mind how you go.

Never let the future disturb you. ...

Who Do You Think You Are?

Today is a burst of introversion, with a semi-compulsory duvet day thrown in.

If you can’t join em beat them as Vlad and Kim might say. It’s just like the 60s again, threat of Armageddon just around the corner, riding with the wind in your hair (when you had hair) like theres no tomorrow.

Messaging a friend with thoughts on separating the artist from the art.

“I like Wagner’s music very so I dont think when I am listening to it thats he was a bit of an anti-semite. Ike Turner was of course an abuser/wife beater. Ray Charles was druggie but fathered a total of 12 children with ten different women and depending on how you view that’s either heroic or despicable. Gill’s personal diaries reveal his child sex abuse of his two eldest teenage daughters during their time at Ditchling Common, incestuous relationships with his sisters, and, in 1930, sexual acts on his dog, which is a bit too much of a stretch, though Gil Sands is a great font widely used. its complex. I would say most people don’t think about the artist but rather the art, but having said that most people don’t think do they?”

First Your Hot ,Then Your Not

Here’s a picture of me on a Saturday night gig with Martin Day at the Woolpack. Great fun though it was an insanely hot day in Chelmsford. Fun and random madness ago go. The car is at the garage getting fixed, needs new brakes. Life is Life as they say.

Wow, hey new tune for you all. Nothing to do with the guys in the photo though. Only little me. as ever. Time ticks by as I wait for a violin valuation to take place. It’s quite exciting like Schrodinger’s Violin as at present it’s both priceless and unique but also old and little more than a curio. I think its unique and wonderful of course but I could do with a few bob extra to be frank or anyone else come to that. The Violin on the track I just posted is of course my electric violin.

Still possibly the most important message of all time:

Love your neighbour as yourself.”

or maybe at least try to get halfway there?

John 13:34 – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

You know it makes sense. And sometimes to know you are not alone.

And this also is sound philosophically: Now I am not a believer, but who knows and I like the sentiment of these words. I had a friend who was a preacher who lost faith and found it again. Redemption? Perhaps everybody can find that in some way?

Matthew 5:43-48 NIV

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor  and hate your enemy.’  But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,  that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?  And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
