So, it looks like the eye problem will be around for a while and I will need to make a few adjustments to manage how I can get back to business as usual in the longer term. Its a bit tiring to be honest. In the meantime time I will try to keep calm and carry on. So it will be more music doings when possible. Stayed tuned.
I have had tests and stuff and my eyes are healthy. they confirmed on the scans that it is a PVD (posterior vitreous detachment). Its an age related thing where the vitreous pulls away from the retina. They cant see any retinal damage and once the vitreous has separated my symptoms of Giant dark Floaters and Flashes should start to subside, but that can take anywhere from 6 weeks to a year or so for the vision to get back to normal. Going back for another test then also glasses. I am legal to drive. I took the car out to see how I coped, but it was a bit tiring.
So, that’s not great but its hopefully survivable. Its in my right eye and I may have had one in my left eye a while back. If so it was not so severe. I can tell you I thought my goose was well and truly cooked. I had a glorious few floater free hours whilst the atropine drops were working after the eye exam which was nice but now the pupils are back to normal size there back. Its bloody annoying though yes much relief in the grand scheme of things of course. So slightly grumpy face after initial euphoria and thought of cost of glasses pushing debt level back up again.
Talking to a friend about tax and inflation. Its a plague upon the nation. I view it all with trepidation from within our strange little conceited commonwealth of mass dissipation and dilapidation. So due to circumstances well beyond my control my notion of getting out of debt by this time next year has gone down the plughole of doom.
Also I have hurt my shoulder. No idea how, and that’s doing wonders for my mood. Fuck it. This being old stuff can be a pain can’t it. Another friend request from a Trumper on Facebook…
it makes no sense to me at all. Wow there . Read the small print Texas Ranger before you click as you may not feel quite so enthusiastic about you and me riding the range on the way home from Walmart. Especially as I am a vegetarian.
Silly mistakes, well I have always made those but they seem to matter more now. We are slightly weighted down by thoughts of our own mortality too of course. A friend who is a similar age to me but a very good amateur musician writes messages to me about how hard it is to study theory and so forth. I confessed that now I don’t learn new techniques and just using written music to learn new tunes. A lot of people think I am the real deal with all the theory and RCM grades. But as you know I just play and make up new tunes and that’s really all there is. I feel too old and stupid to learn new tricks. Live I may have a flash of brilliance afforded me by the gods on brief occasions. But other wise life is aches and anxiety and worry and little it of love. But like many of my contemporary’s I am also “Raging against the dyeing of the light”.
Though for a moment I thought almost literally so.
